This event is open to all adults who want to explore mindfulness and find a moment of peace. Whether you’re new to mindfulness or looking to deepen your practice, Breathing Room offers a gentle, accessible way to slow down and breathe.

Know someone who might benefit? Invite them to join you!

  • Relaxed, Welcoming Environment: Each session begins with a warm welcome to help you feel at ease.
  • Mindfulness Insights: The facilitator may share practical insights about mindfulness, explaining how small moments of being present can make a big difference in your daily life.
  • Learn & Practice: You’ll learn a mindfulness strategy, skill, or participate in a guided mindfulness exercise.
  • Your Comfort, Your Pace: There’s no pressure to participate beyond your comfort level. Whether you’re new to mindfulness or have some experience, you’re welcome to engage in a way that feels right for you.
  • Time to Breathe: You’ll have dedicated time to slow down and practice reconnecting with yourself before returning to your day.

Space may be limited. Check back soon for more information, including how to sign up!

Meetings are facilitated by Kaylie Groenhout (she/her), board-certified Resident in Counseling and fellow stress-prone human who practices mindfulness to find moments of peace.

  • This event is not sponsored by Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL).
  • Though hosted by a licensed Resident in Counseling, this event is not a substitute for psychotherapy, group counseling, or other mental health treatment.

Therapeutic Book Club

This isn’t your neighborhood book club (and, hey, we love a neighborhood book club)! While it definitely has a social component, our book club focuses on self-reflection and building and sharing insight.

Location: Virtual
Date/Time: Two Wednesdays each month from 6-7:15 PM (dates varies by month, see below)
Cost: $50/month

Registration will close three days before the first meeting  of each month.

PLEASE NOTE:
Though hosted by a licensed Resident in Counseling, book club is not a substitute for psychotherapy, group counseling, or other mental health treatment.

We meet twice a month on Wednesday evenings from 6-7:15 PM EST. Exact dates change each month (see below). This is an online book club. A meeting link will be emailed to you two days before the meeting.

For $50/month, you’ll receive:

  • access to (2), 75-minute virtual book club meetings for that month
  • guided discussions led by a mental health practitioner
  • curated journal prompts to extend your reflections
  • increased accountability to yourself
  • an opportunity to share your thoughts and insights with others and build connection
No. Each participant is responsible for acquiring their own copy of the book. We recommend considering utilizing your public library (including electronic resources like Libby and Hoopla), local bookstores, used bookstores, and online retailers like Bookshop.org.

We have a three-person minimum and ten-person maximum to ensure there are enough diverse perspectives to facilitate meaningful discussions, while also keeping the group small enough so everyone feels comfortable and has ample opportunities to share.

Anyone 18 or over who is looking for a unique way to work on self-reflection and self-improvement while connecting with others doing the same. Because this is not therapy, there is no requirement to be located in Virginia.

Know someone who might benefit from this group, and who might bring something to the table? Encourage a friend to register!

Meetings are facilitated by Kaylie Groenhout (she/her), board-certified Resident in Counseling and fellow bookworm.

Attendance is key to a therapeutic book club as one of our main goals is to foster a sense of community.

That said, regardless of how much we plan, sometimes life happens. If you have to miss a meeting, please join us at the next one! Just drop a line so we know you’ll be out.

No refunds or “make-ups” will be offered.
